Follow Up Appointment

A follow up appointment is usually arranged between 2-4 weeks after an initial appointment, or when the herbal treatment is about to run out.

The follow up appointment usually lasts about 30 minutes. The client or practitioner can ask further questions, and discuss how things have changed. Further testing may be suggested, either through your GP or an independent lab.

The original prescription may need altering due to symptoms changing, depending on the needs of the individual. Some clients are happy to continue with repeat prescriptions for months, while others prefer to arrange weekly or monthly follow up appointments. Julia recommends a follow up at least every 6 months, to ensure the client is getting what they need.

The follow up appointment is often an opportunity for the client to talk things through and receive further advice regarding their condition, a bit like an MOT. Clients may choose to have a herbal infused massage: this experience helps the client de-stress and unwind, allowing the practitioner to work on a deeper emotional level. As well as allowing the client to quieten and calm the mind, working on the parasympathetic nervous system reduces tension in muscles and joints. Many clients have found this a more spiritual experience.
